France Booster

-History and production

Produced by the SEP this booster equipped the Mirage IIIE interceptor version. It used like fuel of the inhibited nitric acid, stored in a booster-incorporated tank and like fuel, the kerosene coming from the plane tanks.
The SEP 844 equipped Mirage III with many air forces.
During a same flight, the pilot could carry out 3 lightings at least. The booster revision intervened only after 200 lightings and required 700h work.
The SEPR 840, lit in flight for the 1st time in September 1957, propelled the test plane at Mach 1,8. In 1984, with the reform of Mirage III in Armée de l'Air, the career of the last version ended.
During this period, approximately 300 specimens were produced by the Villejuif factory (SEPR) then that in Villaroche.
